I don’t know about you, but I looooove some warm freshly baked scones. They’re one of my favorite treats. And add some Chai spice to them…..Mmmmmm….perfect. Serve up with a fresh brewed cup of Chai or a Chai Latté.

Chai Spiced Scones
These scones have a deliciously warming suble Chai flavor. Perfect for sharing with a friend or two.
Equipment
- Tea Steeper
- Sauce Pan
- Pastry Cutter
- Rolling Pin
- Whisk
- Mixing Bowl
- Baking Sheet
- Silicone Brush
Ingredients
Scone Batter
- 4 Cup Flour - all purpose
- 1 ½ Tbsp Baking Powder
- ½ Cup Sugar
- ½ tsp Salt
- 8 Tbsp Butter not melted
- 2 Tbsp Classic Chai Loose Leaf Tea or Spiced Rooibos Chai
- 1 Cup Milk
- 2 eggs
Egg Wash
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 1 tsp Water
Vanilla Drizzle
- 4 Tbsp Powdered Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Milk
- ½ tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
Instructions
Scones
- Preheat oven to 275°F
- Heat Milk to simmer in sauce pan with lid
- Steep tea in milk 10 minutes (cover to keep hot)
- Strain off brewed milk/tea
- Mix all dry ingredients for Scones in large bowl
- Cut butter into dry ingredients
- Add brewed chai milk and eggs. Mix until blended well.
- For extra flavor, add powdered Chai blend to batter (see notes below)
- Lightly flour surface and roll out dough to approximately 1" and cut into desired shape. Place onto lined baking sheet.
- Mix Egg Wash ingredients with fork and brush over tops of scones
- Bake in preheated oven at 275°F for 35 minutes (or until lightly browned)
Vanilla Drizzle
- While Scones are baking, mix all Vanilla Drizzle ingredients until smooth.
- When Scones are done baking, remove and allow to cool
- Add Vanilla Drizzle over Scones
- Enjoy!!

Optional: Add in some raisins or mini chocolate chips for a little extra umph.
Powdered Chai Blend - Grind 1 Tbsp of Chai Tea (or Spiced Rooibos Chai) into a fine powder.
Alternate Drizzle Ideas: You can easily change up the drizzle flavor by adding cocoa powder or flavor syrups.
Toppings: Sprinkle cocoa powder or Chai Powder over top
